Amidst the fields of permafrost
I bow my head and bear the cost
Of ages in the in-between
Among the sins that I have seen.
The cold erased my train of thought,
A peace of mind I once had sought
When once the world was green and blue-
When love was something pure and true.
And in those summer days of lies
The peace was pierced by distant cries
Which I ignored, refused to hear,
And placed at distance what was near.
But when the flowers turned to grey
I could not turn my eyes away
As ashes fell at first, and snow
Began to blanket all I know.
No warmth to quell these quaking hands,
No wonder in this winterland-
The epicenter of my dreams,
And source of all the summer screams.

That's pretty damn amazing! A very good rhythm to it, and well rhymed.
Is there any particular intentional meaning behind this? From my view, it seemed as though it was someone in a land bordering a war, who ignored the war until it reached them. That's just my interpretation of it, though.
