In the field full of bliss, waiting for winter’s kiss,
I forgot where I was and I fell for a dream.
As I shivered below all the new-fallen snow,
In the distance I heard only one final scream.
Flowing endless and fast through the fields of the past,
My cold body swept off on the glaciers at sea.
I first slept, then I wept, but so closely I kept
One last image of love in my mind, hopelessly.
Was it love at first sight in the chill of the night?
Did the blizzard that fell in that twilight obscure
All the joy and the pain? Did the pinpricks of rain
Biting into the flesh drive me to the impure?
In the fields full of ice, once again I knew vice
And I fell for my lies, sought to live out a dream.
I returned just to learn of the harsh winter burn,
As I froze in those fields I tried one final scream.
